Heaviest Element Yet Known to Science Discovered

The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California has now identified with certainty the heaviest element known to science.
The new element, Pelosium (PL), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.
Pelosium is inert, and has no charge and no magnetism. Nevertheless, it can be detected because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact...

The Conservative Debate: To Be Or Not To Be A Third Party

Conservative Blogger Debates continue.

This is probably one of the most pressing issues on the conservative side of the ideological spectrum. Weather Conservatives should to move to form and vote for a true conservative 3rd party or to drive the Republicans to become a more solid and reliable Conservative party. In this round of the conservative debate we have Don from Present Discontent and regular contributor to Conservative Hideout 2.0 and Scratcher from Makes My Brain Itch. Both of these excellent bloggers are members of The Resistance as well.
The question posed to the participants is:
Some people think, long term, that a true Conservative 3rd party is necessary, because the Republicans have proven only slightly better than Democrats when they were in power. The thinking goes, we are never going to change Washington, so why bother voting in the Republicans.
Other say that we need to refocus the Republicans because if we actually form a 3rd party, we are guaranteeing that the left will win election after election.
The question is what should the focus of Conservatives be going forward, a revitalized Republican party or a true Conservative party?

Aristocracy and Oligarchy - How We Got Here

Bear with me here; I believe this to be the most critical point in American history besides the Civil War and I haven't seen anyone else address it. Of course, I'm no scholar. I could be wrong, off my meds or just plain freaking wacko, but I seriously doubt it.

The United States began as a Democratic Republic, meaning the citizens grant power to their representatives through democratic elections and the representatives are then the voice of their constituents in the halls of Congress.

But that is an oversimplification. When the Constitution was ratified, the only legislators elected by popular vote were in the House of Representatives.

The Senators were in fact selected and appointed to the federal level from their respective State Legislatures. This was done intentionally so that, hopefully, Senators would be faithful, or beholden to their home State and not the Federal Government. This procedure worked in concert with the Tenth Amendment in protecting the States from federal overreaching meddling and intrusions into State affairs.

The founders saw the mechanics of the Senate/House relationship being rightly contentious in that

Unlike the lower House, where fleeting and often emotionally charged issues could lead to the passage of unconstitutional laws, it is the role of the Senate to slow the process of inquiry and foster longer and more analytical debate on important issues. Source

Sound familiar?

In other words, Senators, with their six-year terms were regarded as the elder statesmen, Constitutional experts and simply wiser and thus less apt to jump on a bandwagon of some shiny, sparkly new scheme. They were, after all, betrothed to their State and not the people per se.

That was then.

In 1913 President Woodrow Wilson and the Congress passed the Seventeenth Amendment to the Constitution which made the election of Senators by popular vote resulting in the States losing representation and removing some of the States' power to defend themselves against Federal usurpation.

That, along with Wilson's radical new interpretation of the Constitution, set the country on the reckless path we are on today.
Woodrow Wilson, President of the United States...More than anyone, Woodrow Wilson advanced the new Progressive theory of human nature and human institutions and the corresponding Progressive critique of the principles of the American Founding and the Founders' Constitution. Wilson... [snip] ...was the first American national chief executive to openly criticize the U.S. Constitution, once comparing it to "political witchcraft." So hostile was he to the self evident truths of the Founding that, in a 1911 address, he remarked, "if you want to understand the real Declaration of Independence, do not repeat the preface." (emphasis added)
The Seventeenth Amendment was one of Wilson's first acts as President for a reason.

The difference between before and after the 17th Amendment is enormous. The impact it has had cannot be understated. The 17th was a pivotal moment in American history because it is the point where America became less of a Democratic Republic and more of a Democracy; people living in democracies are more easily manipulated. Everybody wants more stuff. If your representative keeps giving you more stuff then why wouldn't you keep voting for them, right?

Wrong.

What's good for you may not be good for your state or for the country as a whole. The Senate has ceased being the wise grandfather or patriarch of the family, calmly and rationally advising a hormonal teenager who is looking for guidance and has unfortunately become something entirely different. The Senator of today is like any other Congressman, seeking to grab whatever morsels he can to bring back to the nest to distribute among the hungry chicks.

The moment the 17th Amendment was enacted, we traded our elder statesmen for American Idol. We might as well have combined the House and the Senate and made them one parliament. They are, for all intents and purposes in modern times, just about equal. The 17th Amendment weakened the State and in doing so it moved the Federal government closer to the people. Need I say this is not good?

I suppose by now you could guess that the 17th Amendment would be on my "repeal" list. And you would be correct.
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. Backwoods Dining

I took a trip to Houston yesterday.  Conroe actually. Had some family business to attend to. On the way back I stopped by an old restaurant / dance hall / beer joint that sits on one of the many waterways nearby. Nestled in one of the bayou's branches just off the main body of water, its a nice place to relax and have a frosty beverage, take in the woodsy ambiance and enjoy some great down-home cooking. I had the fried alligator. Yum. Not too expensive either.



On Sundays during the spring and summer seasons you can find a cajun or swamp pop band playing in the afternoon. I highly recommend it. If your ever out on Highway 365, around Labelle road stop over and pay them a visit. You can google it to find out exactly where. The place? Oh. Pine Tree Lodge.

And no, they do not know I am writing this. But you can tell them I did,  if you decide to go. They'll probably say "Mind Numbed Whaaat?"

Fun With Google - or - Why Does Obama Hate My Country?

While researching an article the other day, I came to an interesting conclusion. Google is liberal. If it's not liberal, then it is definitely left leaning and certainly anti-conservative.

The reason I say this is Google seems to be engaging in one of my pet peeves of modern politics. Projection. Taking ones own faults and projecting them onto others.

Case in point:
My premise for the search is "Obama hates republicans".
I believe there is plenty of evidence out there to agree with this theory. All you have to do is listen to one of The Won's speeches to hear him denegrade the republicans for causing some such economic disaster or social calamity or another.

But,

Google doesn't know this.
Exhibit "A"

If you look closely at the following screen cap you will see that there is only one return that remotely fits the search terms. That answer is: "Why does Obama hate my country?". That's it. (Good question by the way. Keep wondering that myself.) Try it for yourself. I've searched on several computers because I thought mine might have conservative keyword cookies in it or some such shit, but no, Google always returns similar results.


Then I thought, hmmm, I wonder if I'm using too strong a term? I mean, "hate" is pretty stout. Maybe he really just "dislikes" them in the circuits of Google. So,

Still turning the phrase around to suit an opposite agenda. Pushing the point home that the republicans hate/dislike Obama, Pelosi, Hillary, babies, little puppies and sea urchins.  Which is completely false. We do not hate sea urchins.


Now then, while I was at it, I thought hmmm, I wonder what kind of result BING would return?

Needless to say, not as telling, but the fun came in with the auto complete feature on both websites.

First BING. Check out what BING thinks you might think Obama hates.

I didn't know there was an Obama Hate Mall. Wonder what's on sale there? Hmmm...

Now Google
WTF is a borf?

Now for the really scary one. While I was typing in the first "Obama hates Republicans" query, I got to the "r" and stopped. Can you see why?


Hope he doesn't get those lasers tuned up anytime soon...

Con-fetti-stitution

I was surfing along today, just clicking around, you know me, looking for a trinket or something I could bring home to the two of you who stop by every now and again, when I happened to stop by Carol's Ye Olde PhotoShoppe  otherwise known as No Sheeples Here to do some browsing and you know, she has the most spot on piece of work on display. I had to steal it so I could show it to you.

I nick named it "Con-fetti-stitution". Very "telling" don't you think? With a whisp of melancholy. It kind-of screamed at me. Like it wanted to be liberated from a horrible machine, or chains of some sort. Oh. I don't know. I really don't know much about art. What does it say to you?

Obama Want's Your DNA, Guilty or Not

The hit's just keep coming...

Now El Presidente' Obummer has proposed creating a national database of harvested DNA samples from every person arrested, regardless of guilt or innocence!

This is getting oh so Nineteen eighty four. I wonder sometimes if we are, in fact, too late to stem the tide of tyranny. It seems more like a Tsunami of invasion and abuses.

Obama appeared on the TV show "America's Most Wanted" (Why not!) and was interviewed by the host John Walsh:

"We have 18 states who are taking DNA upon arrest," Walsh said. "It’s no different than fingerprinting or a booking photo. ... Since those states have been doing it, it has cleared 200 people that are innocent from jail." "It’s the right thing to do"” Obama replied. "This is where the national registry becomes so important, because what you have is individual states — they may have a database, but if they’re not sharing it with the state next door, you’ve got a guy from Illinois driving over into Indiana, and they’re not talking to each other."

Well, if 18 states (?!) have already lain down like lambs, what's the problem with doing it at the federal level?

Plenty.

Ever hear of a search warrant? reasonable suspicion? I'm not a lawyer but this is invasion of privacy plain and simple, not to mention illegal search and seizure, and those are just for starters.

And you want these invasive bastards running your health care system?

Cut Taxes? Spur Capital Investment? Increase Employment?

Senate: Nah.
We'll just extend unemployment instead.

Let's make sure everyone remains on the government dole shall we?

Via Open Congress:
The Senate has just passed a $140 billion bill includes an extension for unemployment benefits through the end of the year, tax credits and billions in emergency aid to states.
One week after approving a 30-day extension of unemployment benefits (H.R.4691), the Senate today passed the American Workers, State, and Business Relief Act (H.R.4321), which provides a longer-term extension of those benefits. Specifically, the bill extends federal unemployment assistance through Dec. 31 and provides a 65 percent subsidy for COBRA health insurance premiums. The coverage is retroactive to Feb. 28.
I think we've been over this before...

And they call the republicans the party of no?

I think the repubs need to get a little louder on all fronts.

No Fish For You!

In another "historic" and "unprecidented" signal yesterday, the Obamachine seems poised to mow down another bit of American Sovereignty. - The right to catch our own fish, or as it's known in some parts of the world, food!

The Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing some of the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters...

"In spite of what we hear daily in the press about the President's concern for jobs and the economy and contrary to what he stated in the June order creating this process, we have seen no evidence from NOAA or the task force that recreational fishing and related jobs are receiving any priority."

Led by NOAA's Jane Lubchenco, the task force has shown no overt dislike of recreational angling, but its indifference to the economic, social and biological value of the sport has been deafening.

Additionally, Lubchenco and others in the administration have close ties to environmental groups who would like nothing better than to ban recreational angling. And evidence suggests that these organizations have been the engine behind the task force since before Obama issued a memo creating it last June.
As more evidence of collusion, the green groups began clamoring for an Executive Order to implement the task force's recommendations even before the public comment period ended in February. Fishing advocates had no idea that this was coming.

Perhaps not so coincidentally, the New York Times reported on Feb. 12 that "President Obama and his team are preparing an array of actions using his executive power to advance energy, environmental, fiscal and other domestic policy priorities."

Morlock fears that "what we're seeing coming at us is an attempted dismantling of the science-based fish and wildlife model that has served us so well. There's no basis in science for the agendas of these groups who are trying to push the public out of being able to fish and recreate."Conflicts (user) are overstated and problems are manufactured. It's all just an excuse to put us off the water."

I know the answer and yet, I still find myself asking: "Who are these people? What freakin' planet did they come from?"
