Ryan to NYT: Repeal & Replace
>> March 26, 2010
Ed Morrissey picked up on Rep. Paul Ryan at the NYTimes today. Taking the message to the heart of the beast you might say.
No one can accuse Rep. Paul Ryan of merely carrying coals to Newcastle. He takes his argument for the repeal of ObamaCare to the pages of the New York Times today, attempting to school its readers on the actual issues of pricing opacity and tax-policy warping of the markets. More importantly, Ryan pledges action, not obstruction:Morrissey Quotes Ryan then goes on to advance his own additions. Good ones too, I might add.
While I think Ryan’s reforms would work to undo the damage of ObamaCare and the tax policies of the last several decades, they could go a bit farther. The best outcome would be to get rid of the idea of comprehensive insurance altogether and move towards catastrophic insurance instead...
Is Ryan pushing a bid for 2012?

I hear that case made often. Imagine how much your auto insurance would cost, if you could pay a 10 dollar co-pay and take your car to the dealer to have a lightbulb replaced or have some air put in your tires.
That and ambulance chasing lawyers with virtually no constraint are 99% of the problem.
Ryan is not setting up for 2012 and I would be surprised if he considered 2016.
'Carrying coals to Newcastle' is an interesting phrase considering Ryan. I know the phrase is being used to describe preaching to the Conservative choir, but he is from Janesville, WI, that has long been a U.A.W. run town and has voted Democrat in Presidential elections for a long time. Janesville also votes for Russ Feingold and Herb Kohl as well.
Hi Steve, thanks for commenting! If he's a RINO or a pretender, then I'm a little too far away to notice. Looked to me like he was holding his own in the health care issue a little better than most. Just trying to support what appeared to be common sense thrown into the mouth of the beast. Thanks for the heads up! I'll do some more research on Rep. Ryan.
Oh, no, don't get me wrong.
Ryan is a leading Conservative, ironically from a Liberal town. In this case Ryan's message (coal) is sorely needed in Janesville (Newcastle very low on coal). It's Janesville that is goofy. After all, Janesville produced Russ Feingold as well.
Paul won't run for President in the near future mostly because he has very young children. And he likes to take care of his own yard.
You can find plenty of Conservative (or Libertarian) critics of several of Ryan's votes and you can also find Paul's responses to them. But a closer scrutiny of Reagan will expose the same.
I'm a big Paul Ryan fan.
And here and here, here, and here.
Ask Lance if he has any pictures of himself with his Representative, Tammy Baldwin!
@Steve Sorry I didn't catch your meaning right off. Sometimes I'm a bit tin-headed. Thanks for pointing me to those photos. I remember seeing them now sometime back. Looks like he's got a couple of able bodied guards there. As to Tammy Baldwin, you wouldn't be trying to stir the pot a little there would you? hehe Thanks again for stopping by. Keep up the fight!
