From The American Thinker...

This spirit of freedom which built our country is presently in jeopardy. It is being stealthily undermined by the peculiar form of government which the Obama administration is determined to institutionalize; a government with a lust for control that is more expansive in scope than many seem to realize; and one which tries to arrogate - contrary to the principles of the Founding Fathers- far more power than it was originally intended to wield.

Amongst  the primary objectives the Obama administration has set out to accomplish are: a complete restructuring of our economy in accordance with the President's socialist construct; the establishment of a federally run Health Care System; the reshaping of our military prowess into an obsolete commodity; a gradual consolidation under the Executive Branch of authority commonly delegated to the Judicial and the Legislative Branches; and finally, the legal prohibition of aired dissent from any assembly or media outlet which happens to disagree with the president or seeks to divulge the potentially deleterious effects of his policies.

A key element of this strategy is to create a narrative which questions the plausibility of a majority elected government in a free society like ours, entertaining and eventually actualizing such illiberal aspirations, and portrays the Obama administration as one that is not engaged in clandestine operations as has been unfairly alleged; and that any evidences to the contrary are merely the unintended consequences of nobler initiatives which have been skewed by the media, or most likely part of a smear conspiracy from his right wing detractors.

But since the Obama administration has indeed shown that it does entertain such aspirations, and that it plans to make good on them, let us then briefly examine every one of these rather ambitious objectives in terms of their respective strategies, if for no other reason than to offer some kind of preparatory grounds for resistance...

Apathy, Willful Ignorance and Corruption - What More Do We Need?

>> December 8, 2009

There are 3 major problems facing Americans today: apathy, willful ignorance and corruption. The most damaging of these, in my mind is apathy. I would say corruption but corruption cannot thrive without the other two. The good news is, you are reading this blog. To me, that means you are at least curious and hopefully politically active. Better still, you would be informed, educated and active. If this is you, I'd like to offer you encouragement. If not, I say "Get your head out of the sand! Cease being an ostrich! The political climate has taken a drastic turn and you don't know it." It's the same thing I said to my Democrat Father over ten years ago and he still won't believe it. I understand blind loyalty. I'm an Astros fan. If you don't understand blind loyalty, you can not be a fan of the Astros. However, there comes a point in one's political life when you simply have to examine the facts.

Progressives/socialists/lefties, call them what you will, are so convinced of their intellectual superiority that they will not accept debate. I call this willful ignorance. The ability to look at the fact that your political philosophy has been proven wrong, or worse, is downright harmful and despotic, and still push it on an unsuspecting public is borderline treasonous. I don't have to be trained in scatology to recognize a steaming pile of horse manure when I see it and for the statists to try to convince us otherwise is surely misleading and more likely an outright lie.

Which leads me to apathy. An unsuspecting public should not be the case in this USA. Put another way, our public schools have been taken over by these progressives who, by design, do not teach our founding principles, our constitution, or our values. Diversity is not the key to our country. It is a part of it but not the key factor. The key is the Constitution, personal property and the defense thereof and the right to live freely and pursue our dreams. These things should be the center piece in any social studies class in American schools. Not class envy, entitlement mentality and songs sung to and pledges made to our president.

I'm no Washington insider. I'm not running for office in your town or mine. I'm a concerned citizen. That's it. I've been awakened within the last few years as to misdeeds by our leaders both Democrat and Republican who claim to want the best for us (U.S. as Paul Harvey used to say). These enlightened sophisticates and aristocrats are busy whittling away our very title and sovereignty as Americans. How can we call ourselves Americans if we have presidents who run around embracing things like "New World Order" or apologizing for doing what needed to be done on the world stage while blatantly disowning our Christian heritage? I find these things disgusting and I feel that it is a disgrace that 537 aristocrats in our federal government think that they rule America. Our ancestors, with divine help, built this nation to what it is and here we are, by apathy and willful ignorance, allowing it to be destroyed.

I cannot sit idly by and allow this to happen, and neither should you.

Consider this another call to action. I would encourage you to talk to one person each week who you think may be an ostrich, who may have given up because of apathy or because of the constant media blitz telling them "It's not worth the fight - you can't win.". That's the same tactic that Tokyo Rose used and we know how well that turned out. We are Americans, after all. Let's start acting like it.

As for corruption, when enough good people cease to stand idly by,  only then can we rid ourselves of enough corruption to begin to turn this country around. Until then we are derelict. Until we stand against tyranny and despotism, we are not living up to the potential our founders envisioned and the promise they supplied in our Constitution.

May God one day bless America again.

Selling Health Care From Prison

Another must-read from The Classic Liberal - here's an excerpt:

Washington is a criminal organization.

Was Democrats’ Health Care Strategy Written In Federal Prison?

The plot thickens.
Rep. Schakowsky’s husband, Robert Creamer, used to be the leader of Citizen Action/Illinois. He also founded its predecessor, Illinois Public Action, in which Ms. Schakowsky served as Program Director. He runs a political consulting firm, the Strategic Consulting Group, which lists ACORN and the SEIU among its clients and which made $541,000 working for disgraced former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich.

Creamer resigned from Citizen Action/Illinois after the FBI began investigating him for bank fraud and tax evasion at Illinois Public Action. He was convicted in 2006 and sentenced to five months in federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana, plus eleven months of house arrest.
While in prison—or “forced sabbatical,” he called it—Creamer wrote a lengthy political manual, Listen to Your Mother: Stand Up Straight! How Progressives Can Win (Seven Locks Press, 2007).
The book was endorsed by leading Democrats and their allies, including SEIU boss Andy Stern—the most frequent visitor thus far to the Obama White House—and chief Obama strategist David Axelrod …

EPA: "Hey You! Yea, You! Stop It With All That Breathing Over There!"

>> December 7, 2009

The EPA today made another step towards what I think is the main goal of Climaquiddick-gate, Cap and Trade and the Hopenhagen summit. These leftist progressive control freaks, if left un-checked, will tax you're right to BREATHE!

From Pajamas Media:

Lisa Jackson, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, today made final her determination that greenhouse gas emissions endanger public health and welfare and therefore must be regulated under the Clean Air Act....
...This Endangerment Finding will begin a cascade of crippling new regulations of the American economy and of the way people are allowed to live.  Already EPA has proposed new auto regulations based on the Endangerment Finding requiring that requires that the average car sold in 2016 get the same fuel mileage as today’s Smart Car.
 From Phil Kerpin:

EPA's Greenhouse Gases Declaration -- Putting America On the Road to Ruin

Today the EPA declared greenhouse gases a danger to public health. And here's the bottom line: The biggest threat to Americans, when it comes to huge new energy taxes and government controls, is not from legislation, it's from regulation.
From The Foundry:

Step aside, elected Members of Congress. If you can’t pass cap and trade legislation, The Environmental Protection Agency will move in with massively complex and costly regulations that would micromanage just about every aspect of the economy. They announced today that carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases (GHGs) threaten public health and the environment.
and from Watts Up With That?
EPA about to declare CO2 dangerous – ssshhh! – Don’t tell the trees
I can’t find the words to describe the illogic behind the EPA with this ruling. Perhaps it is best to say that bureaucrats don’t understand anything but regulations and leave it at that.
and:
The EPA CO2 regulation – Dec 7th 2009, a day we will not soon forgetEPA’ s Lisa Jackson panders to Copenhagen on opening day. Planned for months of course, with public comment ignored. It is now the people -vs- the EPA, coming to a courtroom near you.
Watts Up With That? just made the blogroll.

Also, I forgot to include an interesting graph stolen from TheBlogProf

There's some excellent commentary too so go read it. OK?
Here's an example:

... mankind is responsible for only 3.4% of CO2, which is only 3.6% of greenhouse gases, which are only 3% of our atmosphere. So 3.4% of 3.6% of 2% is... well - not much. (.002% of CO2 and 0.28% overall)
Just so you know what a small percentage of our atmosphere is comprised of CO2, the compound is measured in units of parts per million! So if you gather 1 million people and pick out 385 of them, you have jack squat of the whole, and that jack squat represents the CO2 proportion.
