Dozens Gather For 4/20 Pot Protest, Somewhere

A few dozen protesters across the nation gathered in parks and allegedly at the nation's capitol to protest for the legalization of marijuana, a substance they see as no more dangerous than alcohol. At 4:20 pm, the protesters lit up joints and smoked them in plain view of God and everyone, then promptly forgot why they were there, leaving sadly, not much else to report, dude.

One protester, when approached by a reporter, was overheard asking "Yea, man, what did you guys want?" in a voice vaguely similar to Tommy Chong.

Here's an idea, Let's PRETEND D.C. is a State! Yea, you know, like we were going to pretend we passed a Health care bill? Only this time let's add two Congress people to the roll call! FROM D.C. which is not a state. or congressional district!

To become a state, you need a constitutional amendment and a two thirds majority vote in favor.

They plan to vote on this Thursday!

After casting a career-defining vote in favor of Big Government Obamacare, congressional liberals know that they have little time left as the majority party in Congress, so they are pushing hard for all the little-known leftist bills that have been sitting in dusty desk drawers for decades. One such piece of legislation is the District of Columbia House Voting Rights Act. Just last week, President Obama called on Congress to get this bill passed and to his desk before November 2010 rolls around.
Sponsored by DC Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, the District of Columbia House Voting Rights Act of 2009 (H.R. 157) would establish full House of Representatives voting rights for the District of Columbia while adding an additional seat to Utah, a traditionally Republican stronghold and the next state in line to pick up a Congressional seat in reapportionment. However, there is one minor problem:  D.C. is NOT a congressional district or a state!
The D.C. House Voting Rights Act aims to accomplish the following:
Subvert the District Clause of the U.S. Constitution - Article I, Section 8, clause 17 - which makes clear that D.C. is a federal city, not a state, with final governing authority resting with Congress. The U.S. Constitution states that the House shall be composed of "Members chosen...by the People of the several States," not delegates representing non-state territories.
Silence critics of D.C. voting rights by buying them off with a "sure Republican" seat because they know the D.C. seat will be a solid Democrat. In the last 12 elections since D.C. was granted the right to cast presidential electoral votes, it has never cast less than 74.8 percent of its popular vote for the Democratic presidential candidate. This move is simply a partisan trade-off by the congressional liberal Majority wanting to add a permanent Democrat vote to their tallies.
Bribe Republicans to favor the idea by including a provision to increase the number of House Members from 435 to 437 and give the extra Representative to Utah.
Lay the initial groundwork for achieving the ultimate goal of establishing two permanent Democrat Senate seats for the District. If the initial inclination is for DC to be "considered a Congressional district for purposes of representation in the House of Representatives," then the idea for DC to be "considered a state for the purposes of representation in the U.S. Senate," will not be far down the road.
Simply introducing a bill such as this is unconstitutional! DC cannot be "treated as though it were a congressional district," unless it were formally made a congressional district via a constitutional amendment, which would require a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress as well as three-fourths of the states to ratify it.
This is nothing new from the Left. Congressional liberals have been trying to grant full voting rights to the District of Columbia since the 1980s. The maiden attempt to amend the U.S. Constitution through the "D.C. Representation" Amendment was unsuccessful, after it passed Congress but was rejected by the American people and died on August 22, 1985 after a decisive majority of 34 of the 50 states refused to ratify it. Now, Members of Congress are attempting to forgo the constitutional process and slip one past the American people in order to accommodate their political agenda!
Remember, the Senate passed its version of the DC Voting bill (S. 160) by a vote of 61 to 37 (Roll Call 73) in February 2009. However, that bill stalled in the House because it contained a Senate Republican-offered amendment which repealed strict DC gun laws. Although the language of H.R. 157 has not yet been made public, the bill is expected to contain either the same or similar gun provisions, and although many House liberals favor DC gun control laws, it is likely that the liberal House leadership will approach this legislation in much the same way it did Obamacare:  Pass it now, fix it later.
TAKE ACTION!
The House is scheduled to vote on H.R. 157 on Thursday, April 22, 2010! Please call and email your representatives and tell them to vote NO on this unconstitutional bill!
Be sure to focus your calls on Republicans and Democrats alike, as various Republican "moderates" have been known to support this attempted scheme in the past and some Democrat "moderates" have opposed it.

Dhimmitude

Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling
non-muslim populations conquered through jihad. Specifically,

it is the TAXING of non-muslims in exchange for tolerating
their presence AND as a coercive means of converting
conquered remnants to islam.

The ObamaCare bill is the establishment of
Dhimmitude and Sharia muslim diktat in the United States .
Muslims are specifically exempted from the government
mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax
for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be
"gambling", "risk-taking" and "usury" and is thus banned.
Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this.
How convenient. So I, a Christian, will have crippling IRS
liens placed against all of my assets, including real estate,
cattle, and even accounts receivables, and will face hard
prison time because I refuse to buy insurance or pay the
penalty tax. Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan will have no such
penalty and will have 100% of his health needs paid for by
the de facto government insurance. Non-muslims will be
paying a tax to subsidize muslims. Period. This is
Dhimmitude.

Dhimmitude serves two purposes: it enriches
the muslim masters AND serves to drive conversions to islam.
In this case, the incentive to convert to islam will be
taken up by those in the inner-cities as well as the godless
Generation X, Y and Z types who have no moral anchor. If you
don't believe in Christ to begin with, it is no problem
whatsoever to sell Him for 30 pieces of silver. "Sure, I'll
be a muslim if it means free health insurance and no taxes.
Where do I sign, bro?"

Now look at what they are teaching and not teaching in the schools...

Senator Linsey Graham R(ino) from S.C along with his Democrat handlers have decided once again that those dangerous carbon emissions are more important than jobs or your economic security. The new energy proposal promises higher taxes on gasoline, which will be tacked on to the existing taxes on gasoline.

I hear the bill also contains the requirement to buy carbon credits that I suppose one could purchase if you breathe too heavily while exerting all the extra effort needed to earn the money to pay for the carbon credits. *pant*

Enough already! When will these morans realize that we don't need or want higher taxes. We need jobs. But that's not the objective is it? Sadly it is not. The Democrats' purpose with this and any new bill of late is more control over your life by telling you what you are allowed to do. Granted, they don't come out and say a person can't drive across country, but they will make it so expensive as to be financially impossible. What happened to liberty?

They continue marching on the the Al Gore drumbeat of a fake Global Warming hoax. Man did not cause the climate to change, if it is changing at all, the cause is far from man-made. Has anyone noticed a large plume of ash currently circling the atmosphere? Was that man-made? Has anyone heard of climate cycles?

The only thing Republicans should be doing right now is digging in their heels and saying no to everything this regime proposes. Bi-partisan should be a word we don't hear for the next three years!

The Senators writing the legislation are dangling the carrot of offshore drilling in an attempt to sucker in some support for the legislation. I say don't reach for it. After the Health Care fiasco, I'm against anything, ANYTHING this congress wants to do.

It's obvious to me that these are normal, God fearing folks. Everyone I spoke to at this event was courteous and well mannered. These are simply people who see their liberties being eroded away and have awakened to the fact that we are the frog in the proverbial pot. I would venture a guess that most of these people, myself included, until a year ago, had never been to a political rally in their lives. I wonder how anyone can be scared by that? I find it heartening.

Thank God for all of you who attended. I stand beside you and salute you, American Patriots!

This legislation, essentially, confers on the federal government police powers that, under our system, are the exclusive preserve of state and local government. The blank check the bill gives the feds to take over any financial institution is really more of an exercise of eminent domain than it is an extension of traditional federal regulatory power.

In my neck of the woods the Party will be held at Ford Park just outside Beaumont from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The address is: Ford Park 5115 IH 10 S, Beaumont, TX 77701

I'll be there with my new HD video camera to hopefully get some footage of the event. Don't be too hard on me for the product as I don't normally go running around with a camera. First up is from Quigley, who found a Politico article that examines Congress' apparent malaise concerning the budget.

...some Democratic insiders suspect that leaders will skip the budget process altogether this year — a way to avoid the political unpleasantness of voting on spending, deficits and taxes in an election year — or simply go through a few of the motions, without any real effort to complete the work.

Nice to know they think they can push the unpleasent truth under the rug for a year. Not happening on this blog.

Listening to GB today, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan stopped in and shared a new (to me) website where he lays out the solution to America's budget crisis. I like this guy. A lot. A License Required for your HOUSE?

If you own your home you really need to check this out. At the end of this email is the Google link to verify. If the country thinks the housing market is depressed now, wait until everyone sees this. No one will be buying homes in the future.

We encourage you to read the provisions of the Cap and Trade Bill that has passed the House of Representatives and are being considered by the Senate. We are ready to join the next march on Washington ! This Congress and their "experts" are truly out to destroy the middle class of the U.S.A.

A License will be required for your house...no longer just for cars and mobile homes....Thinking about selling your house? Take a look at H.R. 2454 (Cap and Trade bill). This is unbelievable! Home owners take note and tell your friends and relatives who are home owners!

Beginning one year after enactment of the Cap and Trade Act, you won't be able to sell your home unless you retrofit it to comply with the energy and water efficiency standards of this "Cap & Trade" bill, passed by the House of Representatives. If it is also passed by the Senate, it will be the largest tax increase any of us has ever experienced.
The Congressional Budget Office (supposedly non-partisan) estimates that in just a few years the average cost to every family of four will be $6,800 per year. No one is excluded. However, once the lower classes feel the pinch in their wallets, you can be sure that these voters will get a tax refund (even if they pay no taxes at all) to offset this new cost. Thus, you Mr. And Mrs. Middle Class have to pay even more since additional tax dollars will be needed to bail out everyone else..

But wait. This awful bill (that no one in Congress has actually read) has many more surprises in it. Probably the worst one is this: A year from now you won't be able to sell your house without some bureaucrat's OK. Yes, you read that right.
The caveat (there always is a caveat) is that if you have enough money to make required major upgrades to your home, then you can sell it. But, if not, then forget it. Even pre-fabricated homes ("mobile homes") are included. In effect, this bill prevents you from selling your home without the permission of the EPA administrator.
To get this permission, you will have to have the energy efficiency of your home measured. Then the government will tell you what your new energy efficiency requirement is and you will be required to make modifications to your home under the retrofit provisions of this Act, to comply with the new energy and water efficiency requirements.
Then you will have to get your home measured again and get a license (called a "label" in the Act) that must be posted on your property to show what your efficiency rating is; sort of like the Energy Star efficiency rating label on your refrigerator or air conditioner. If you don't get a high enough rating, you can't sell.
And, the EPA administrator is authorized to raise the standards every year, even above the automatic energy efficiency increases built into the Act. The EPA administrator, appointed by the President, will run the Cap & Trade program (AKA the "American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009") and is authorized to make any future changes to the regulations and standards he/she alone determines to be in the government's best interest. Requirements are set low initially so the bill will pass Congress. Then the Administrator can set new standards every year.

The Act itself contains annual required increases in energy efficiency for private and commercial residences and buildings. However, the EPA administrator can set higher standards at any time. Sect. 202 - Building Retrofit Program mandates a national retrofit program to increase the energy efficiency of all existing homes across America .
Beginning one year after enactment of the Act, you won't be able to sell your home unless you retrofit it to comply with its energy and water efficiency standards. You had better sell soon, because the standards will be raised each year and will be really hard (expen$ive) to meet in a few years. Oh, goody!
The Act allows the government to give you a grant of several thousand dollars to comply with the retrofit program requirements IF you meet certain energy efficiency levels. But, wait, the State can set additional requirements on who qualifies to receive the grants. You should expect requirements such as "can't have an income of more than $50K per year", "home selling price can't be more than $125K", or anything else to target the upper middle class (that includes YOU?) and prevent you from qualifying for the grants.
Most of us won't get a dime and will have to pay the entire cost of the retrofit out of our own pockets. More transfer of wealth, more "change you can believe in." Sect. 204 - Building Energy Performance Labeling Program establishes a labeling program that for each individual residence will identify the achieved energy efficiency performance for "at least 90 percent of the residential market within 5 years after the date of the enactment of this Act."

Oh, the label will be like a license for your car. You will be required to post the label in a conspicuous location in your home and will not be allowed to sell your home without having this label. But, the government estimates the cost of measuring the energy efficiency of your home should only cost about $200 each time. Remember what they said about the auto smog inspections when they first started: that in California ? It would only cost $15. That was when the program started. Now the cost is about $50 for the inspection and certificate.
Expect the same from the home labeling program. Sect. 304 - Greater Energy Efficiency in Building Codes establishes new energy efficiency guidelines for the National Building Code and mandates at 304(d) that one year after enactment of this Act, all state and local jurisdictions must adopt the National Building Code energy efficiency provisions or must obtain a certification from the federal government that their state and/or local codes have been brought into full compliance with the National Building Code energy efficiency standards.

God and Government - part 2

In the real world, while discussing some things that I believe pertaining to God and faith, a couple of my friends on separate occasions have labeled me a Zionist. I'll confess, I'm unsure what that term exactly means in the true definition because it seems to have several different connotations and explanations. I only use the term here as a reference point to another issue.

The topic under discussion was the Tribulation and the return of Christ as foretold in the book of Revelation. The reason we were discussing it was my belief that we, each of us, has a hand in how fast or slow that prophecy approaches.

It is said that Thomas Jefferson's motto was "Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God." I happen to agree. I think that if tyranny grows, then the dark hours of the end of our world get closer. On the other hand, if we fight back tyrants and put them in their proper place, then we delay the time of the Great Second Coming. (Just think of how much closer we would be if Hitler would have won.)

I know there are those fruitcakes out there who think it's their job to accelerate the pace of this little party called Armageddon but I don't agree. It's not God's style. Why wouldn't he want the Second Coming postponed as long as possible? It's a win-win. God get's more converts and we get to stay here in freedom a while longer. The longer it takes to get here, the more worshippers for him.

I think this is why they used the term Zionist, because I believe in the Second Coming, but like I said before it may be a misunderstanding of the definition on their part or mine.

Along with this discussion, other questions have been raised. Thought provoking philosophical discussions as to destiny and free will and whether the book of Revelation is actually prophecy or just John sitting in a cave in exile being pissed off and writing a rant at the dude who stuck him there.

Me? I happen to believe it is prophesy, which led one friend to go down the destiny road and say "If it's destined to happen, then you can't do any thing about it." To which I replied ""Yes we can, we can help forestall it." Which then got into a free will vs destiny discussion. Personally, I have no problem with the two existing in the same world because if God is all knowing, then he is certainly able to know what you are going to choose before you choose it. That doesn't stop you from making the choice, nor does it force you to either.

Given today's philosophical rhetoric, Peter might have wanted to believe that he lacked a choice in denying Christ. The fact was, he did it of his own free will. Christ even told him about it up front. You would think that being forewarned about something would keep you from doing it, but he was scared for his own life and made the choice three times. The good thing was, he was forgiven the moment he did it. All he had to do was confess it. God's kinda cool like that.

One last thought. I wrote in God and Government part 1 about the power of prayer, urging all of us to pray for our country and its leaders. We need to continue interceding more than ever. Here is why:

I believe an interceding prayer is powerful not only in helping the person being prayed for, it helps the person doing the praying. I believe that when one intercedes for another, you are closer to God's will than at any other time. It is possibly at those moments when God has as close a thing to a direct connection to you than any other. Didn't he say "Pray without ceasing?" I believe that when we intercede for another we are acting in a godly fashion. Isn't there a verse that instructs us to "Act as if you have faith and faith will be given to you." or something like that? If not, it sure sounds good.

The bottom line is this. God loves us. He wants us to be like him. He doesn't want anyone to die. He gave us free will and a choice to make. The question is, what choice are you making? Keep in mind, as the band Rush put it so plainly "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice."

I'm in complete agreement with General Robert "Bob" Belvedere on this one. The Republicans just don't get it. Not only are they dropping the ball on immigration, they have lost their minds on the Health Care issue and the direction this country should be headed in particular.

There is only one path to saving this country. Half measures are just distractions. The person that demonstrates to me that they are for REPEALING the HC Legislation, is for ENFORCING IMMIGRATION LAWS already on the books and is for LOWERING TAXES will get my vote. A progressive Republican is just as dangerous if not more so than a Democrat progressive who spits on the Constitution in the streets.

One more point on the Health Care Takeover to one of my Senators:
Senator Cornyn, with all due respect, you are wrong. To shift focus from the constitutionality of the Health Care takeover at this time is disastrous. This issue needs to be the rallying cry for the next 4 years! The Supreme Court should understand our outrage at the callous, underhanded, malicious audacious attack on our rights and individual freedoms that is the HC monstrosity. To back away now is to admit defeat.

I will not lay down for it and you shouldn't either. Make the point of job creation in tandem with the effects on the Constitution if you must, but do not lay the Constitutional issues off to the side. I would wager that a large number of your constituents agree with me. Ask them.

I was asked last week why I write about Obama and the current crop of lunatics running the country. I answered her at the time and got that glazed look that says "So? And your point is?" She said "I vote. That's my voice. What else can I do?" To which I replied simply "You don't get it, do you?" No, I guess not.

I didn't feel like I could enlighten her at the moment so, after the meeting, I was back at my office and decided to write a quick letter to try to explain to the uninitiated what drives me. It truly amazes me that someone can read what is on these pages and not understand why I do it.

I’ve been thinking about your question earlier. I don’t think I answered it to my satisfaction.

If you want to know why I blog or write about these things, Here is the bottom line. I love the ideas of the Founders. I love freedom and liberty and I know we are losing them. I want to lend a voice to the thousands/millions of others who wish to stop what is discussed in this article. It’s not the absolute best article I’ve found but it is does reference some law professors who agree that if these guys aren’t stopped, our country is quite probably doomed. They are setting precedent that will have future consequences impacting individual property and liberty. In other words, every aspect of your life.

That doesn’t scare you? It does me. And it makes me mad that I see it happening on such a large scale here. It makes me angrier to see liberals who gloat over the destruction of the very thing that enables their prosperity, the Constitution. Activism is needed. Not just at the ballot box. I know for some that is all they feel they can do. I happen to think they are wrong. The more I learn, the more I feel it is our duty as Americans to be informed about our country so as to defend it from these types of attacks. We’ve been asleep and inattentive as is needed by the form of government the founders set up for us. It requires our involvement.

I’ve had this conversation before and what I always find myself saying over and over again is: If I didn’t think I could change it, I would still do it because it’s what I feel I must do as an American.

Call me what you will, but I’m not crazy. These people are more power hungry than most realize. I don’t wish for anyone to live under oligarchy and I hate aristocracy. Both of those paths are tyrannical and often lead to dictatorships. For anyone to think it couldn’t happen here is, to me, not as aware as they should be. History does repeat itself.

I look at it this way, the left owns 90% of the main stream media. Bloggers are a part of the opposition to that misinformation. I’m proud to be a part of that opposition and have fun doing it most of the time. Believe me, sometimes I wish I was ignorant to what is happening. Ignorance may in fact be bliss, but now that I know some of it, now that I’ve gone down the rabbit hole as they say, I want to see it all and I might as well share it with whomever would listen.

The Troglopundit recently stated his disdain over recent comments made by a climate scientist or some other such dipshit speaking about "modern democracy" getting in the way of a climate saving social(ist) agenda. I'm not going to address the dipshit. If you don't know where I stand on climate change or suspension of human rights, please, let me direct you to the "older posts" button at the bottom of this page.

What I would like to address is the notion of the USA being a democracy. I know Lance was speaking to said ~~dipshit~~ scientist in terms the ignoramus might comprehend when he repeated the term "democracy" but here is my point, and it is fundamental.

The USA is not a democracy. We once were by Jefferson's or Madison's definition, a Democratic Republic. We are still a ways from true democracy, but with the recent 50.1% vote for Obamacare by both houses, the democratic element to the republic has gained far too much weight. (What happened to the supermajority?)

I agree that democracy, when used alone, is a stoopid form of government. But a republic would also degenerate into oligarchy or aristocracy if left unchecked by the masses (democracy). I'll offer current events as my proof. Funny how these lessons need teaching again.

The leftists and progressives have been touting this "democracy" description of America for evah, and it's time we conservatives quit taking the bait. We need to remind people what kind of government this is supposed to be. A Democratic Constitutional Republic. Ruled by law, not the whims of the majority. A government that protects ones God given rights instead of a government so powerful as to grant rights. A government powerful enough to grant you rights is one that will easily and thoughtlessly take them from you.

We need a well informed populace to defeat these ignoramuses and sophists. That's where the cro-magnon-neanderthal and tin-headed-pom-pom-obsessed bloggers come in.

Pom-poms win over politics every time. So, in that regard, let's print the information on pom-poms and tattoo them on tatas if necessary. I'll volunteer to do the printing. Calligraphy is a subject I've always had a keen interest in. On second thought, tattooing is a bit extreme. How about a line of educational tee-shirts or bikinis? Yea, that's the ticket. Let's use the sweater puppy obsession to our advantage. I'm sure we can come up with some tasteful slogans to advance our cause. Here's my first suggestion. You'll have to use your imagination as to the placement of the verbiage.

Whatever. I know you could do better.

The conservatives on the Texas Board of Education deserve our
thanks for working to make school textbooks accurate and unbiased.
It was a long, tough fight, but our side prevailed in one of the
major battles for the minds of the school children of Texas. Left
wing ideologues were outraged that conservatives stood up and
blocked them from imposing even more liberalism on state textbooks,
and so were their friends in the mainstream media, but in the end,
the conservative bloc was able to keep a lot of liberal bias out of
our kids' social studies textbooks.

Over the course of the past several months the national media has
been discussing the school textbook wars in Texas. Typically,
almost every article or report was actually liberal sermonizing
disguised as journalism. In the past few weeks, these stories
have reached a hysterical crescendo in the mainstream media, as it
became clear that conservatives were going to triumph in our
efforts to keep some of the liberal bias out of school textbooks.

There are few things in life that will have more influence on the
future than what our children are taught in the classrooms of
public schools. Private and home schools are wonderful, and I'm a
strong supporter of both, but the number of students in public
schools is far, far greater than the numbers enrolled in private
and home schooling, combined. Unfortunately, liberals realized
this long before conservatives did, and over the decades our kids'
textbooks have been increasingly filled with left-wing propaganda.

Conservatives finally woke up back in the 1970s, thanks to the
heroic efforts of people like Mel and Norma Gabler, the husband and
wife team who spent decades exposing the liberal indoctrination
that was being passed off as education in Texas schools. Even
since then, the school textbook approval process in the Lone Star
state has been a major battleground between conservatives and
liberals. This year was no different, as the guidelines for social
studies textbooks that will be in force for the next ten years were
up for review.

I was a member of one of this year's panels that produced the
recommendations the Board of Education was seeking to implement.
From my first hand experience in the earlier part of this process,
I can tell you the story of what really happened. It's nothing
like the heavily biased and distorted accounts that appeared in the
media across the country. To hear the MSM tell it, Texas was
caught up in some sort of right wing extremist hysteria; a
combination of a witch hunt to eliminate from history books
anything conservatives disagree with and an iron fisted campaign
to force a false version of history on our schools simply to impose
a far right wing agenda.

That was how the media reports spun things, but in reality, what
was happening was the exact opposite. Conservatives were the ones
who were fighting to remove liberal orthodoxies with no basis in
facts from our school textbooks and to prevent the left-wingers
from making the texts even more liberal than they already were.
Self proclaimed "progressives", of course, pretend to be completely
objective when it comes to textbook content, so in their minds
these left leaning school books aren't slanted at all, but
completely unbiased.

That's nonsense, of course, and it's why liberals have been
squealing like stuck pigs for the past few months, trying to scare
Texans and Americans with horror stories about "right wing
extremism" taking over our state school board, when all
conservatives were doing was restoring a small measure of balance.
Don McLeroy, the conservative Republican who heads the Texas Board
of Education, called the liberals out for their dishonesty in this
regard. "We are adding balance...History has already been skewed.
Academia is skewed too far to the left."

Few things get liberals more agitated than talking about the
Christian heritage of the United States, and it's no coincidence
that much of the negative media coverage centered on this subject.
As SBOE member David Bradley pointed out, "There's a hostility
toward faith, specifically Christianity."

Liberal revisionists refuse to acknowledge that most of the
Founding Fathers believed that religious principles should inform
government, and for them, religion meant Christianity, period.

In addition, when liberals don't get their way, they usually start
slinging accusations of racism. According to the Austin
American-Statesman, liberal board member Mary Helen Berlanga spent
almost all of her time on the board trying to get lots of minor
historical figures added to textbooks simply because they were
minorities. Berlanga was the one who was obsessed with race, but
when conservatives blocked her proposals because they believe
people should be included in history books because of their
contributions, not the color of their skin, she tried to make
conservatives out to be the racists. As she left a board meeting
in a huff, she slandered the conservative board members: "We can
just pretend that this is a white America. Hispanics don't exist."

The irony is that just before she walked out of the meeting,
Berlanga had made a motion to identify minority Medal of Honor
winners. In her mind, it's apparently only important to study Medal
of Honor winners that aren't white, yet she has the gall to accuse
the conservative board members of being racist!

Thankfully the conservatives on the Board of Education refused to
be intimidated by these reckless accusations of racism (by people
obsessed with race themselves), and didn't cave in. They even had
the courage to remove "hip hop music" as a "significant cultural
contribution" to be studied by Texas school kids. Their victory
isn't just important for Texas, though, because many textbook
publishers follow Texas' guidelines when coming out with books for
the national school market. So, thanks to the brave
conservatives on the Board of Education, for the next ten years
millions of school textbooks will be more accurate and balanced.
They deserve our thanks.

The State Board of Education is receiving a lot of negative media
attention for doing the right thing and they need to hear

Understanding the Different Forms of Government

I have said more than a few times within these pixellated pages that we have been slipping towards Democracy and Socialism. Some would say that we have embraced them already. Some of our leaders most assuredly have. It is my opinion that in order to right the course of our ship of state the people should again be educated. That education has been lacking in our schools for quite a while.
Here is a video shared by a fellow TEA Party member on the various forms of government. Simple and easy to understand.

Where we are in terms of any "ism" is not relative but absolute, even if hard to define or point out on a graph. However, where we are to me though is not as important right now as where we are going. That is why I resist even the smallest encroachment of liberty, because where we are going is not to freedom but to slavery and tyranny.

Christianity holds that man was created in a perfect condition, sinned/fell from grace and because of sin requires a Redeemer to satisfy the righteous judgement of a Holy God. The problems of the human condition will disappear once sin is finally dealt with.

Socialism is an expression of humanism; humanism is a system of belief wherein Man does not need to be redeemed, he needs to be ruled. Once a perfect government is formed, then all the problems of the human condition will disappear.

No one can accuse Rep. Paul Ryan of merely carrying coals to Newcastle. He takes his argument for the repeal of ObamaCare to the pages of the New York Times today, attempting to school its readers on the actual issues of pricing opacity and tax-policy warping of the markets. More importantly, Ryan pledges action, not obstruction:

During Health Care Debate Senate Dems Feast on Lobster, Constitution - Bill Headed Back to House

The Hill reports that the reconciliation bill will pass a couple of amendments to he House Health Care bill, sending it back to the lower House for another vote. Some crossing of the aisle has occured from both sides.

Senate Parliamentarian Alan Frumin sustained two GOP objections to two minor sections of a Pell Grant provision in the student loan part of the bill intended to change the original healthcare reform bill passed by both chambers.

The Senate held 10 hours of continuous, marathon voting starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, with Republicans trying throughout to lodge a successful objection to the bill to force its return to the lower chamber. The bill’s passage by the House is a safe bet, prompting Senate GOP Whip Jon Kyl (Ariz.) to call Frumin’s ruling “a consolation prize.”

In 10 hours of voting, only three Republicans crossed the aisle to vote with Democrats — Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine, and George Voinovich of Ohio, who supported Democrats in blocking an amendment by Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) that would have allowed Medicare patients to opt out of receiving certain benefits.

Senators began voting at 5 p.m. and rarely left the chamber over the next several hours, venturing only into the cloakrooms and only occasionally into the hallways where several members had hideaway offices nearby.

In contrast to floor speeches delivered during the afternoon and on Tuesday, Wednesday night’s voting was often marked by levity and was rarely tense. At one point, after Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) gave a tongue-in-cheek speech in favor of one GOP amendment, Democratic Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) responded by teasing Roberts over the University of Kansas’s recent loss in the NCAA basketball tournament.

The evening’s mood suggested a foregone conclusion; Republicans privately conceded that the bill was on its way to passage and said they weren’t surprised at the overwhelming defeat of their amendments. Democrats, meanwhile, celebrated by munching on lobster rolls from Legal Seafood in their cloakroom in honor of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), who had championed healthcare reform for much of his 47-year career.

The Robot is not sure what implications this will have. I will leave that to more learned scholars. I'm merely passing on the information. Read the whole report here.

Um, did I just elude to Pelosi being a bitch? Well, it certainly wasn't done consciously. But now that I see it in pixels, I does kinda fit, in a Pavlovian sense of things, don't you think? But I dally too long on the trivial.

Legislative Innovations?

I had a post all cued up to go...
And then I had to revise it. See, I almost made the mistake of assuming I knew what political side someone was on from a few things they wrote. Yea, I know. Silly huh?

The person in question isn't someone I read every day. I'm sure that if I did, I would understand her positions a little better. Unfortunately, The Atlantic isn't one of my main coffee table sites. Maybe it should be.

The reason I'm even blathering on about this is Little Miss Attila. It's all her fault. She's the reason I was shoved into the world of hyper-realism and ultra-awareness. I'm sure that if only a redneck like myself could, but for a little while, take off my boots and blue jeans and wade through the streets of New York or Philadelphia or San Francisco, I'd gather by sheer osmosis, the wisdom of some more learned authors. (Sorry about that visual)

I'm going to be in hot water for this, but I have to question Megan McArdle's use of some terminology in one of the articles I read today. Forgive me if I've gone off the deep end here. Please, let me know if I'm being overly critical.

Being a lowly robot in the food-chain of the blogosphere, I usually refrain from critique of someone in the journalism field. After all, they are paid for their verbiage.

Today, however is not one of those days. Call me wreckless. (HT Michelle Malkin and the Dem's for the new spelling.)

Ms. McArdle posted an interesting piece at The Atlantic on the tyranny of the majority and cautioning against too much gloating over the health care victory. She even went so far as to recognize the inherent danger in ignoring the will of the American people. Something I agree with by the way. What she cautioned against was expressed in this phrasing:

If the GOP takes the legislative innovations of the Democrats and decides to use them, please don't complain that it's not fair. Someone could get seriously hurt, laughing that hard.

But I hope they don't. What I hope is that the Democrats take a beating at the ballot box and rethink their contempt for those mouth-breathing illiterates in the electorate...

Legislative innovations? I guess if you would define unconstitutional procedures, bribery, deceit, arm twisting and I'll venture a guess at blackmail as legislative innovations then you might want to take out some stock in the next printing of Webster's because everyone in the country is going to need a copy to decipher the new language.

I have to ask, am I reading this correctly? Do I understand Ms. McArdle to mean that she would actually justify or could justify the use of such tactics? Because that is the way it seems. Granted, she has left herself an "out" here by the little "I hope they don't" line. But the suggestion has been made.

Look, I know we are in the middle of a fight right now and tempers will flare, but to condone such procedures for one's own side is to give them the thumbs up for all sides. To threaten to use them in the future because they have been used in the past is patently wrong; not to mention that it would just embolden the opposition and add credence to their very use in the first place.

If we threaten to use these measures in the future, what possible criticism can we use against the process and resulting legislation that came from it? I'm sorry, I don't see the logic.

If these new legislative innovations, as McArdle calls them, are given the seal of approval, then we are just as bad as what we are fighting. We should take the high road on this issue, even if it means losing, because to do otherwise is to become what we despise.

I'm sorry for going off here, Ms. McArdle but I believe you are wrong to encourage or even mention this tack as legitimate. If I have read you incorrectly, please, enlighten me.

It is my not so humble opinion that this war can still be won. That the legislation itself is unconstitutional is the ground of the battlefield.

As I write this I'm listening to the AG of Texas on the radio give the basis of a lawsuit about to be filed opposing Obamacare. The main points being that the Federal Government is not allowed and is in fact prohibited by the Constitution from requiring a citizen to purchase a product or service. Let's fight the fight with the Constitution in hand and not get distracted by the "well you did it" mantra.

If we wish our leaders to be righteous and fair then we must require it from them, not encourage bad behavior on our own side as tit for tat. It would only play into the oppositions hands.

As to the gloating, to Obama, Ried and Pelosi I say gloat. Go ahead. Get it out of your system. All you will accomplish is enraging an already angry TEA Party and waking up a sleeping elephant.

In reality, the first part of M.M's article that stuck me in the eye was this quote:

One cannot help but admire Nancy Pelosi's skill as a legislator. But it's also pretty worrying. Are we now in a world where there is absolutely no recourse to the tyranny of the majority? Republicans and other opponents of the bill did their job on this; they persuaded the country that they didn't want this bill. And that mattered basically not at all. If you don't find that terrifying, let me suggest that you are a Democrat who has not yet contemplated what Republicans might do under similar circumstances. Farewell, Social Security! Au revoir, Medicare! The reason entitlements are hard to repeal is that the Republicans care about getting re-elected.

My comment at LMA's place was:

I think it might actually be a badge of honor and help get them re-elected.
Anyone brave enough to stand against entitlement mentality gets my vote. I would also bet that a large number of newly awakened Americans agree with me. Optimism. Yea, it’s my curse.
Side note: Saw Instapundit mention you today, AGAIN. Hows that Instalache workin out for ya? Traffic envy is petty, but it’s mine.

On reflection, I have to also question any "admiration" for "Nancy Pelosi's skill as a legislator". I could do a freaking hell of a lot with a stimulus package full of voters' money to bribe a bunch of crooked legislators with. The fact that it took so long and so much money is a testament to the TEA Party and the common every day citizens who manned the phones day after day and trekked to DC trying to stop this garbage. The fact is, they scared the hell out of those lawmaker/breakers and caused a more lengthy process.

Are you beginning to understand why I was having trouble figuring out which side M.M. is on? I sincerely hope I'm missing the sarcasm. Surely, I am. Again, I apologize if I'm being overly critical, but to admire Pelosi is, to me, to admire a mobster for his murder and thievery techniques or Satan himself for his prowess at deceit.

I might be an optimist, but as of Sunday night, I'm an optimist with a grudge.

The War of Independence was over, the Constitution ratified, and America's first President was about to set a precedent.

He could have established a monarchy with his charisma and the fact that no provision was in place for the President's term of service. The people and the Congress as a whole loved him that much. But as was his way, he lead by example; he set down the scepter of power and passed the torch of freedom and guardianship of the Constitution to the trust of God and the next elected caretaker of America's Constitution.

This was the setting when George Washington, after presiding over the birth of a nation unlike any ever before conceived, addressed the State Governments in his Circular Letter of 1783, his last before he retired from public service. He wrote in part,

Then, speaking of the age soon to be termed The Enlightenment he continued,

And in another passage he said,

Looking at America during my short life time and studying our history, I have to ask, are these the words of a President, a psychic, a fortune teller or all the above?

People of America, our country is in peril! We are in a fight for the very soul of our nation. Barack Obama and his minions are poised to destroy our Constitution and are setting into motion the tools and machines that will be the ruination of our way of life and prosperity.

We are descended from the same people George Washington spoke of as "designated by Providence for the display of human greatness". We are the descendants of heroes that defeated totalitarians like Hitler and helped free the European continent twice!

Have we become so arrogant and selfish that we allow a tin horn wanna-be dictator to come in using charismatic smoke and mirror, class envy tactics, relying on the the good will of the people, and feeding off the guilt of our past to tear down the very fabric of this nation?

This is not just wrong. What the progressives in DC are doing is evil, plain and simple. It is a reintroduction of slavery to the only country in the world that has ever abolished it.

Obama claims to be another Lincoln. He is not. He is in fact the antithesis of Lincoln. The Anti-Lincoln, in terms of freeing the slaves because he would enslave every hard working soul in America to achieve his goal of domination over them in the guise of equality and reparations. Redistribution of wealth is nothing less than a road to communism and a totalitarian state.

How is it that a man can go to college in this country, profess to learn Constitutional Law and not love the very thing that he swore an oath to uphold?

Who better to destroy the constitution but a supposed expert of it?

People, make no mistake, this is no small battle, it is a war for the soul of our nation. Look at the every day Americans who show up at town halls and march on Washington time after time in opposition to the sheer lust for power and control in our halls of law and justice. Those halls were built to proclaim and promote liberty and freedom, not to spread tyranny and fear and the people who march are to be commended because they speak for the millions of us who cannot go. To them I say Thank You.

In the course of our history, Americans have bonded and banded together against their common foes. Why is it that now we are so divided? Why is it that some of us are too selfish to see that they are projecting their own selfishness onto others?

It is time once again for Americans to recognize a common enemy and combine our strengths to defeat it.

Years ago, a friend of mine who held three black belts, had a quote on his vanity mirror. It read, "We have met the enemy, and he is us." This is closer to the truth than you think, for it is our own greed that will destroy us. If we would live off the fruits of others' labors then we are doomed to fail. If we would listen to a man that tells us that the cure for problems caused by the Government is more Government, then we are selfish and stupid and are doomed to fail.

Think of your Grandparents and Great Grandparents and the trials they endured in the Civil War, the Dust bowl, the Great Depression and two World Wars in order for us to be here in this time. Is this is how we honor their spirit?

I believe that America is better than this current crop of leadership.

It is time for Americans to once again show that we love our country more than ourselves.

And it's time the politicians did the same, or got the hell out of our Halls of Congress and the White House.

God Bless America and the spirit of her founding.

I've been trying to call Rep. Stupak, Sorry to say his voicemail is full. So I went to congress.org, found his website and sent an email. I'm outside his district and the site says that he can't reply to me. I wonder if the email went through. Anyway, here is what I sent.

Representative Stupak, Sir please oppose the Health Care Bill as it stands. I think you and I both know that it funds abortion and is also an unconstitutional one. If it is such a benefit, then why have key votes been bought with bribes and arm twisting? Americans can do better for our country and each other.
I am and will be praying for you and our country.

Breaking (The Bank): Kucinich to Vote Yes on Health Care

Dennis Kucinich today flip-flopped his no vote on Health Care Reform. Changing a No to a trembling Yes, he announced the decision in what can only be described as a strange, disjointed news conference at the base of the passenger stair this morning after being taken for a ride in Air Force One.

The President, First lady and several unidentified, purple shirted attendants, went for a 2 to 3 hour grueling flight aboard the Presidents jet where the congress-critter was forced to watch home movies of Obama's wedding to Michelle and their recent vacation trip to Hawaii. The final straw, as told by anonymous sources, was when Michelle brought in some fresh baked cookies she had prepared especially for the arm twisting trip sight-seeing tour. At last, Kucinich finally succumbed to the overpowering pressure brought o bear.

"I just couldn?t take it anymore. I'm sorry America, but you weren't on that plane. You just don?t know! You weren't on that plane!" Kucinich was heard screaming as he, struggling, was led down the stairway.

Broken, obviously shaken and in shock by the ordeal, Kucinich was carried away by paramilitary paramedic personnel, presumably to an undisclosed hospital for mental evaluation and treatment.

Regrettably for Kucinich, Obama-Care has apparently found its first victem patient.

Clash of the Titan Conservatives

The Conservative Blogger Debates continue, with Motor City Times and The Classic Liberal acting as moderators and the combatants or sparring partners being Don at Present Discontent and Conservative Hideout vs. Scratcher at Makes My Brain Itch.

Be sure to read the fine points espoused on both sides of the question: "What should the focus of Conservatives be going forward, a revitalized Republican party or a true Conservative party?"

Now that the dust has settled from the first two debates, I would like to reference a comment made on the sidelines that I personally think was spot on and begs to be on a front page somewhere. Why not mine? It was made by darcprynce who resides over at The Daley Gator. His comment was on the CBD Palin Edition concerning what a difference her policies may have had if implemented as opposed to Obama's. He said:

"...what impact, if any, do you think Sarah Palin’s prior actions as governor or policy pronouncements more recently, would have on any given specific economic indicator or the economy in general?"
You mean if she'd been elected President instead of Odipshit?
Uh... well, she likely wouldn't have signed off on a massive, pork-laden "stimulus" bill, so average people wouldn't be hesitant to spend their money for fear of losing everything they own down the road, when Obamaflation roars over us like a tidal wave from some 1970s disaster movie.
She wouldn't have spent a year frightening everyone with endless talk of socializing the health care industry, so businesses would be hiring people in expectation of a future America which doesn't so closely resemble Castro's Cuba.
She wouldn't be threatening to raise every conceivable tax over the next few years, so company owners would be able to make reasonable business plans without fear of their elected representatives bashing them in the teeth at every turn for daring to be successful.
Nobody would be concerned with the possibility of her selling out our sovereignty to a bunch of Marxist assholes at the UN, so people who might be considering shooting themselves or someone else over that sort of crap would probably mellow out and concentrate on earning a living.
Cap & Trade legislation would be off the table, so the energy industry wouldn't be shitting its pants waiting for the next federal shoe to drop, and might actually begin to expand production for the first time since I was in grade school.
And who knows, maybe Mrs. Palin would have the basic common sense to... oh, I don't know... not bail out huge failing corporations like GM, thus strangling the corrupt, mafia-run unions that have helped run them into the ground, instead of rewarding the pricks and incentivising them to remain the royal fuck-ups they are indefinitely.
Of course, I could be wrong.

My response to this was: "@DarcPrynce Bravo! Well said. I think you hit the heart of the situation we are in, or at least close to it. It is a crisis of confidence. The people and business owners don't want to risk capital in the current climate..."

The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California has now identified with certainty the heaviest element known to science.
The new element, Pelosium (PL), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.
Pelosium is inert, and has no charge and no magnetism. Nevertheless, it can be detected because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact...

The Conservative Debate: To Be Or Not To Be A Third Party

This is probably one of the most pressing issues on the conservative side of the ideological spectrum. Weather Conservatives should to move to form and vote for a true conservative 3rd party or to drive the Republicans to become a more solid and reliable Conservative party. In this round of the conservative debate we have Don from Present Discontent and regular contributor to Conservative Hideout 2.0 and Scratcher from Makes My Brain Itch. Both of these excellent bloggers are members of The Resistance as well.
The question posed to the participants is:

Some people think, long term, that a true Conservative 3rd party is necessary, because the Republicans have proven only slightly better than Democrats when they were in power. The thinking goes, we are never going to change Washington, so why bother voting in the Republicans.
Other say that we need to refocus the Republicans because if we actually form a 3rd party, we are guaranteeing that the left will win election after election.
The question is what should the focus of Conservatives be going forward, a revitalized Republican party or a true Conservative party?

April 19, 2010 After casting a career-defining vote in favor of Big Government Obamacare, congressional liberals know that they have little time left as the majority party in Congress, so they are pushing hard for all the little-known leftist bills that have been sitting in dusty desk drawers for decades. One such piece of legislation is the District of Columbia House Voting Rights Act. Just last week, President Obama called on Congress to get this bill passed and to his desk before November 2010 rolls around. Sponsored by DC Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, the *District of Columbia House Voting Rights Act of 2009* (H.R. 157) would establish full House of Representatives voting rights for the District of Columbia while adding an additional seat to Utah, a traditionally Republican stronghold and the next state in line to pick up a Congressional seat in reapportionment. However, there is one minor problem: D.C. is NOT a congressional district or a state! The D.C. House Voting Rights Act aims to accomplish the following: Subvert the District Clause of the U.S. Constitution - Article I, Section 8, clause 17 - which makes clear that D.C. is a federal city, not a state, with final governing authority resting with Congress. The U.S. Constitution states that the House shall be composed of "Members chosen...by the People of the several States," not delegates representing non-state territories. Silence critics of D.C. voting rights by buying them off with a "sure Republican" seat because they know the D.C. seat will be a solid Democrat. In the last 12 elections since D.C. was granted the right to cast presidential electoral votes, it has never cast less than 74.8 percent of its popular vote for the Democratic presidential candidate. This move is simply a partisan trade-off by the congressional liberal Majority wanting to add a permanent Democrat vote to their tallies. Bribe Republicans to favor the idea by including a provision to increase the number of House Members from 435 to 437 and give the extra Representative to Utah. Lay the initial groundwork for achieving the ultimate goal of establishing two permanent Democrat Senate seats for the District. If the initial inclination is for DC to be "considered a Congressional district for purposes of representation in the House of Representatives," then the idea for DC to be "considered a state for the purposes of representation in the U.S. Senate," will not be far down the road. Simply introducing a bill such as this is unconstitutional! DC cannot be "treated as though it were a congressional district," unless it were formally made a congressional district via a constitutional amendment, which would require a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress as well as three-fourths of the states to ratify it. This is nothing new from the Left. Congressional liberals have been trying to grant full voting rights to the District of Columbia since the 1980s. The maiden attempt to amend the U.S. Constitution through the "D.C. Representation" Amendment was unsuccessful, after it passed Congress but was rejected by the American people and died on August 22, 1985 after a decisive majority of 34 of the 50 states refused to ratify it. Now, Members of Congress are attempting to forgo the constitutional process and slip one past the American people in order to accommodate their political agenda! Remember, the Senate passed its version of the DC Voting bill (S. 160) by a vote of 61 to 37 (Roll Call 73) in February 2009. However, that bill stalled in the House because it contained a Senate Republican-offered amendment which repealed strict DC gun laws. Although the language of H.R. 157 has not yet been made public, the bill is expected to contain either the same or similar gun provisions, and although many House liberals favor DC gun control laws, it is likely that the liberal House leadership will approach this legislation in much the same way it did Obamacare: Pass it now, fix it later. TAKE ACTION! The House is scheduled to vote on H.R. 157 on Thursday, April 22, 2010! Please call and email your representatives and tell them to vote NO on this unconstitutional bill! Be sure to focus your calls on Republicans and Democrats alike, as various Republican "moderates" have been known to support this attempted scheme in the past and some Democrat "moderates" have opposed it.
